epsilon Eridani Temáukel
Temáukel was the supreme god of the Selknes, inhabitants of the southern tip of South America, in the area of Tierra del Fuego, R. Argentina. Infinite and eternal deity, gave birth to everything. He resided in the heavens and never fell.
epsilon Eridani b Kenós
Kenós, was sent from heaven to Earth by Temáukel to create and shape it. For the creation of mankind and all living beings. Also to form the rivers, mountains, valleys and lakes.
His mother was the sky, but not in the sense of begetting, but as someone protector.

Once end the task Kenós in this world, He ascended into heaven and became what we now call Aldebaran.

All these data were compiled by the Austrian priest Martin Gusinde (1886-1969) for his great interest in anthropology, who spent several summers (between 1912 and 1924) coexisting with the diverse communities of Tierra del Fuego, R. Argentina.
His work is reflected in several books, among Selknam called as "Shadowhunter" by taking pictures of them, which are preserved and thanks to them, today we know better.

The Selknam, had a rich mythology associated with the sky and the stars, as seen in the work of Gusinde, who published his first book in 1931: "Feuerland indianer band die Selknam"

epsilon Eridani Epsilon Eridani
Epsilon Eridani was named in 1603 by Johann Bayer, a German celestial map maker, using his naming convention (a Greek letter and the genitive case of the parent constellations name). It is in the constellation Eridanus (Latin for river) just below and to the right of the constellation Orion.

The name Epsilon Eridani is beautiful and used in a number of science fiction stories and games. Although many stars in the constellation Eridanus use the Eridani name we propose that Epsilon Eridani retain the name as it is the closest of the Eridani stars. (though moving to a capital E in Epsilon to honor its use as a proper name)

Episilon Eridani is a young, orange hue star that is similar to our sun. It is 10 light years from Earth and the closest star system on this list of nameable systems.

The first confirmed exoplanet in this system is a gas giant with a highly eccentric 7 year orbit at about 3.4 astronomical units (AU) from its parent star (about where our asteroid belt is). We propose to name this planet Dijla (pronounced De-jila). Dijla is the Arabic name for the Tigris River which runs through present day Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Kuwait.

‘The River’ is the name of the parent constellation and we propose to use this theme to come up with the names for the planets in this system (any future confirmed planets around this star could also be named for Earth rivers- like Volga, Yukon or Ganges). We started with the Tigris as it borders the Fertile Crescent and is an important part of human history.

We chose to use the Arabic name for the Tigris river to honor the many contributions to astronomy that are in Arabic (Betelgeuse, Aldebaran, Altair, Deneb, Rigel).

epsilon Eridani b Sufijunior
"Sufi Junior" is the nickname for Brazilian musician and amateur astronomer José Brazilício de Souza (1854-1910). The first name came from persian astronomer Abderrahman Al-Sufi. When Brazilício wrote its scientific texts on newspapers in Santa Catarina, he used this nickname "Sufi Junior"

epsilon Eridani Ziyu
Ziyu (籽玉, pronounced as tzi-yu) means a
type of small jade. Jade ordinarily represents spirits of nobility, pureness
and perfection in oriental cultures. The Ziyu is one of the top quality jade,
for the rocks originally fell off the mountains due to weathering, and been flushed
in rivers year by year, then became round, smooth and small Ziyu eventually.
Just like the star, it locates in the middle of the river and shines like a
pure jade.
epsilon Eridani b Cheng
(琤, pronounced as cheng) means the sound as
jade pendants tap. Imagining this, the water comes from the constellation
Aquarius, and becomes a river the Eridani, when the water beat a little jade lost
in the river, it makes a beautiful ringing sound.

epsilon Eridani Tilapia
Astro-Club "Nippy" would like to propose for the sun-like star "epsilon Eridani" the name "Tilapia", while this star can engender and maintain a civilization of intelligent tilapias on one of the moons of the planet "epsilon Eridani b". Tilapia sapiens is a genus of fishes in the Cichlidae family. The similar extremophilic tilapias exist in warm Lake Natron in Kenya and Tanzania, and a saltwater ocean on one of the many small moons that orbit Saturn called Enceladus is the most likely place in the solar system for extraterrestrial life in the form of tilapias to be found. The system Sun-Saturn-Enceladus is very similar to the Exoworld "epsilon Eridani"-"epsilon Eridani b"-"moon of epsilon Eridani b" (Tilapia-Natron-Natron II).

epsilon Eridani Maiko_A
Maiko High School is a public school located in Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture. Our school is the first high school that has Environment and Disaster Mitigation Course. This course was created after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995. Shortly following the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in March 2011, Maiko High School sent volunteer groups of both teachers and students to the disaster affected areas to clean up residents’ houses and help in any way they could. Members of our astronomy and meteorology club observe celestial bodies, hold stargazing events, operate a planetarium for neighbors, and make observations of comets in the astronomical observatory.

epsilon Eridani Rán
Rán (pronounced "RAN") is the Norse goddess of the sea and she drags drowning sailors to the bottom of the ocean with her net. Her pulling things with her net made us think of a star's immense gravitational pull.
epsilon Eridani b Ægir
Ægir (pronounced "EYE-geer"), Rán's husband, is also a god of the sea and is responsible for most of the sea's actions. He is seen as a powerful and dangerous god and he too captures men and cargo from ships. Also his 'hiding' or taking of things made us think of the possibility of other planets orbiting the same star and that they could be 'hiding' with him. Plus, there is a high chance of there being more than Ægir orbiting Rán, and as we refine and improve on our techniques on world finding, there is a high chance of finding another celestial body orbiting Rán.

This name submission is the work of James Ott from Mrs. Barksdale's Period 3 science class and voted as the winning submission by his peers.

epsilon Eridani Riba
High River bank
this area provides an important habitat for birds and other wildlife (this fauna refers to a lot of fictional stories that happened in eridani epsilon and also ostriches in Arab ancient constellation). In Brazil the expression "tudo em riba?" It can mean "everything okay"?
epsilon Eridani b Pororoca
Great roar.
Pororoca is a tidal bore with waves up 4 meters that travel as much as 800 km inland upstream on the Amazon River and adjacent rivers.

We seek Brazilian words that refer the river.

epsilon Eridani Manapie
A diminutive of "Manabi", study in Japanese
epsilon Eridani b Nicynon
easygoing (=nonbiri) spiral-shelled snail (=nishi or nicy)  in Japanese.  Coined word.

We have been learning various things from the universe since ancient times. It is like a origin/headwater of knowledge. That’s the reason why we want to name the star of the River. "Manabi" is the Japanese word for study and "Manapie" is its diminutive. "Nicynon" means our desire to get on with our studies slowly but steadily as a snail.

epsilon Eridani Gejalbis
Our group has realized it would be a best option to create a random name with no meaning for both the star and the planet, remembering that each and every word in all languages were, in the beginning no more than a random sound to which was used to represent a concept. To give a clearer example, much before becoming the name of the biggest planet of our Solar System, “Jupiter” was only a sound that was used by the first Latins to refer to their god of the storms (and then the planet). By proposing such names, we intend to create a similar effect.
epsilon Eridani b Stafar31
Considering there is no known information of how the planet looks like, only artistic conceptions, we can’t name this planet after its appearence (like Neptune, which has been named after the roman sea god because of its bluish color). Therefore, we suggest a name that has no meaning behind it with a random number
