55 Cancri Magayon
We suggest naming 55 Cancri A, the parent star of 55 Cancri planetary system Magayon. Based on our research, 55 Cancri A is a main sequence star so much alike of our own Sun. The difference is, it is on a binary star system and its core is said to be more ferric rather than carbonic unlike our sun. “Magayon” is a Bicolano word (A Filipino Dialect) which means “Beautiful”. And no doubt a star comparable to our wonderful life giving Sun deserves to be called as “Magayon” or beautiful as well.
55 Cancri b Maganda
Maganda is a Filipino word which means "beautiful".

55 Cancri f Chibchacum
Planet located in the ZH, with the possibility of hosting a habitable exomoon. (A "Earth" on his shoulders)

The Muisca are the Chibcha-speaking people that formed the Muiscan Confederation of the central highlands of present-dayColombia's Eastern Range. They were encountered by the Spanish Empire in 1537, at the time of the conquest. Subgroupings of the Muisca were mostly identified by their allegiances to three great rulers: the Zaque, centered in Chunza, ruling a territory roughly covering modern southern and northeastern Boyacá and southern Santander; the Zipa, centered in Bacatá, and encompassing most of modern Cundinamarca, the western Llanos and northeastern Tolima; and the Iraca, ruler of Suamox and modern northeastern Boyacá and southwestern Santander.
The territory of the Muisca spanned an area of around 47,000 square kilometres (18,000 sq mi)[citation needed] - a region slightly larger than Switzerland - from the north of Boyacá to the Sumapaz Páramo and from the summits of the Eastern Range to the Magdalena Valley. It bordered the territories of the Panches and Pijaos tribes.
At the time of the conquest, the area had a large population, although the precise number of inhabitants is not known. The languages of the Muisca were dialects of Chibcha, also called Muysca and Mosca, which belong to the Chibchan language family. The economy was based on agriculture, metalworking and manufacturing.

We all earthlings spinning around together on a planet of the sun have already sent out information about human physical appearance to someone in the universe. E.T. knows look of human beings through a plaque on Pioneer 10 hopefully. That’s enough? We say no. Now, we are going to next challenge. Should be introduced spiritual attractions of us by our own languages. Using the multitude of senses as a common language, we can get to know again that human’s attractions come from within. Five senses is what is a common language. There are no cultural and linguistic barriers in the communication. We think about five extrasolar planets in 55 Cancri, comparing them to five senses of us. Here, we propose that five stars be named after five senses that may refer to touch, sight, hearing, taste, and smell. We Japanese, you know, have a lot of beautiful words and phrases in our language. We tried to pick the following five words that make a favorable impression. We’d like to share the success of naming, emphasizing the Japanese spirit of wa, harmony, compassion.

55 Cancri Mike&Michelle
From The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, a novel written by Robert A. Heinlein (1966).
Nicknames of HOLMES IV = High-Optional, Logical, Multi-Evaluating Supervisor, Mark IV.
The lunar colony is managed by a computer, which is gradually enhanced to fulfill an increasing amount of new tasks... until it wakes up as a double-personality AI Mike/Michelle. Only a computer technician understands what really happened. The colony must fight a bloody war against the Earth, in which Mike/Michelle plays a key role in the name of freedom.
55 Cancri b JOSHUA
Nickname of WOPR = War Operation Plan Response computer.
The WOPR produces war scenarios for the US, in order to verify the effectiveness of different strategies. A boy logs in remotely through a backdoor and start playing “global thermonuclear war” with him. The simulation is seen as a real threat and becomes such, when nuclear warheads are armed in the silos. How to prevent the WOPR from really setting off the war? Perhaps with a no-winner game such as tic-tac-toe! Joshua and humans themselves learn in time that, in some cases, "the only winning move is not to play."
From the film War Games, directed by John Badham (1983).
55 Cancri c SIMONE
Acronym of the software Simulation One.
Simone is an avatar, created with an experimental software by a film director, who is no longer able to manage his own actors. It's a virtual body without AI, while Samantha is an AI without a virtual body. If an illusion of perfection, unaware of its existence, is more than enough to revive the myth of Pygmalion and Galathea on a global scale, what can happen if an AI defines his/her own appearance? It is not a coincidence if all these planets orbit around Mike!
From the film S1M0NE, directed by Andrew Niccol (2002).
55 Cancri d HAL
Nickname of HAL 9000 = Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic 9000 series computer.
Hal is a full member of the crew of the ship Discovery One, headed for Jupiter. It secretly received contradictory instructions: it must obey,
but this causes some malfunctions. Hal concludes that contradictions can only be solved by eliminating the rest of the crew, since it can continue the mission alone. The only surviving human will enter the central unit and turn off its cognitive modules.
From the film 2001: A Space Odissey, directed by Stanley Kubrick, the homonymous novel by Arthur C. Clarke (1968) and their sequels.
55 Cancri e SAMANTHA
Name of a specimen of OS 1 = Operative System 1.
We know only the voice of Samantha. Her existence begins when the operating system is initialized. Growth is fast: Samantha shapes her identity and then understands, loves, envies those who are made of flesh and bones. To end with the awareness that she is not human: she will remember forever her friends and her lovers, but the future, for Samantha and her own kind, will be elsewhere.
From the film Her, directed by Spike Jonze (2013).
55 Cancri f JANE
Name of the AI born within the interstellar computer network.
The humans defeat an alien invasion of the solar system and seize some
of their knowledge, among which the “ansible”: a type of instant communication. Computer networks, first interplanetary and then interstellar, use the ansible: this allows the birth of Jane. She has relationships only with Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, but what can happen to an AI who relies on almost unlimited computing power and instant connections, when her only friend is disconnected for hours? Jane will have to rebuild with fatigue what remains of her.
From the Ender's Game series written by Orson S. Card (1986).

All cited works have had a very broad resonance around the globe and cannot, therefore, be attributed to a single culture: these Artificial Intelligence entities (AI) are inside us, between us, everywhere. Following this idea, it will be easy to name planets yet to be discovered in this planetary system.

55 Cancri christmas island
We submit the name “Christmas Island” for the planet system of 55 Cancri. We chose this
name because 55 Cancri is located in the constellation Cancer, The Crab and as the star is a red dwarf we thought of the famous red crabs that are native to the island. Christmas Island is home to millions of red crabs that migrate during the wet season to release eggs into the ocean. This journey can take many days. The people of Christmas Island respect and protect these crabs as they take a trip across roads. 55 Cancri contains one planet in the habitable zone, planet F. Habitability may be as rare in this system as in our own solar system. The eccentricity of this planet is 0.3. If planet 55 Cancri F has an atmosphere this eccentricity will cause significant climate changes during an orbit. Island ecosystems on Earth will be very vulnerable to climate change. We hope that our name of Christmas Island with a single planet in the habitable zone and this planet having extreme climate variation will raise awareness of the risk of climate change to our own fragile home. We think that the care the inhabitants of Christmas Island extend towards the red crabs will inspire environmental awareness among Earth's citizens. Lastly, we note that the flag of Christmas Island contains 5 stars and this matches the number of known exoplanets in the system. Any other planets discovered in future could also use crab anatomy names or other sea life related names. The theme of crab body parts as names for the planets will be used so that a large planet corresponds to a large body part.
55 Cancri b Carapace
The largest planet, D, is named carapace for the large central part of the body of a crab. We use the parts of a crab leg starting from the carapace to name the planets outside of the habitable zone in decreasing order of size.
55 Cancri c Propodus
Propodus is the next leg piece in size and we assign that name to the next exoplanet in decreasing size order, planet C.
55 Cancri d Carapace
The largest planet, D, is named carapace for the large central part of the body of a crab. The carapace is the dominant part of the crab's body and 55 Cancri d is the dominant planet in terms of mass.
55 Cancri e Carpus
The smallest planet, E, is called carpus. The carpus is a small part of the leg and this is suitable for the smallest known planet. We of course avoid the name “dactyl”, then end of a crab leg. Dactyl is a satellite of the asteroid Ida and not a name available for use.
55 Cancri f Chela
Planet F is named for the claw of a crab, Chela. This is because life may have “grabbed” or “clawed” onto this habitable zone planet.

55 Cancri Manala
The whole nameset for the 55 Cancri system consists of creatures and places from Finnish folklore.

Manala, the suggested name for the star 55 Cancri is one of traditional Finnish names for the Underworld, the realm of the dead. The nature of the place is explained in the description for 55 Cancri d, "Tuonela".
55 Cancri b Aarni
In Finnish folklore, Aarni is a creature that keeps and guards a magical treasure. Sometimes a will-o'-the-wisp was seen was seen at the spot, and in some stories that meant the guardian was cleaning the treasure using a fire.
55 Cancri c Pohjola
In Baltic Finnic mythology, Pohjola is a land to the north. It is often seen as a place of evil or takes on an adversary role. Dieseases and bitter cold weather are sometimes seen as coming from Pohjola. Pohjola plays a crucial part in the Finnish national epic Kalevala.
55 Cancri d Tuonela
Tuonela is one of the names for the realm of the dead or the Underworld in Finnish mythology. According to the ancient beliefs the fate of good and bad people is the same and the dead wander the afterlife as shadow-like ghosts. Tuoni and his wife Tuonetar are the rulers of Tuonela. At times living people visited Tuonela to gather information and spells. The trip there required weeks of trekking in a desert, and finally the crossing of the river with the help of a ferryman (similar to Charon in Greek mythology). Shamans could visit Tuonela by falling into a trance and tricking the guards. Tuonela features prominently in the Finnish national epic Kalevala.
55 Cancri e Lintukoto
Inb Finnish mythology, Earth was believed to be flat. At the edges of Earth was Lintukoto, "the home of the birds", a warm region in which birds lived during the winter. The Milky Way is called Linnunrata, "the path of the birds", because the birds were believed to move along it to Lintukoto and back. In Modern Finnish usage, the word lintukoto means an imaginary happy, warm and peaceful paradise-like place.
55 Cancri f Vainajala
Vainajala is one of the names for the realm of the dead or the Underworld in Finnish mythology. The nature of the place is explained in the description for 55 Cancri d, "Tuonela".

It is interesting, that ancient Greek names of this planets before the mythological ones had the same meanings as Armenian names: Stilbon, Phosphoros, Pirois, Phaethon and Phainon meaning Sparkling, Phosphorus, Fiery, Radiant and Apparent, respectively, exactly the same as in Armenian. Armenian names of the planets often are in use until now. Moreover, Ancient Armenian astronomy was so developed that the word "planet" had its own term, "molorak", which means a wandering body, a stray (almost the same as "planet" in Greek), as it was noticed that the planets moved compared to "immovable" stars (though most of the nations use the same term "planet" or its versions without translation)

55 Cancri Ñamandu
The first, the origin and beginning. The chief god in the Guarani mythology, defined as an invisible energy, eternal, omnipresent and omnipotent. Ñamandu resides in Yvága, the eternal house of the original living things, and is not an anthropomorphic entity. Ñamandu creates itself as a tree, first get steady on its roots, its divine soles, extends its branches, arms with bloomed hands, makes its treetop, crown of flowers and feathers, and stands as a tree. Then its heart starts to shine.

After taking apart the primeval darkness with the brightness of his heart, Ñamandu conceived the creative word (Ayvu) that later will be bequeathed to the human being to develop language. Then created the other main gods: Py’aguasu, Karaí, Yakaira, Tupã, and their companion goddesses.

Together they created the First Earth (Yvy Tenonde), the sea, day and night, the first animals and first plants. And, finally, they created the human being.
55 Cancri b Ñandesy
Ñandesy is the goddess Ñamandu created to be his companion. Ñandesy gives birth to two children who were cared by jaguars. The twins were called Ñanderyke’y, the older brother; and Tyvra’i, the younger one. The older brother takes control of the Sun and younger takes control the Moon.
55 Cancri c Py’aguasu
Ñanderu Py’aguasu, Our Father of Great Heart, father of language and the words.
55 Cancri d Karai
The owner of the flame and the solar fire.
55 Cancri e Yakaira
The owner of the fog, the haze, and pipe’s smoke that inspires shamans.
55 Cancri f Tupã
The owner of the waters of the rains and thunder.

55 Cancri 55 Cancri
Do not desire for change.
55 Cancri b Scyllae
This name was specifically chosen as a plural variation of the word Scylla, chosen as a possible candidate for an exoplanet of 55 Cancri in Cancer, preferably the Hot Jupiter, 55 Cancri Ab. Scylla refers to two things: Firstly, the Scylla is a legendary mythological sea creature found with Charybdis in Italian folklore. But as 155 Scylla is the designation of a main belt asteroid, a suggested plural variant on the name, Scyllae, is suggested.

Secondly, the name Scylla happens to be the scientific name for a genus of commercially important, edible swimming crabs. In particular, Scylla serrata, or the mangrove mud crab, plays a key role in Singaporean cuisine as the iconic ingredient used to cook chili crab, a spicy local delicacy in my home country. It is often farmed due to its commercial importance, high meat content, and rapid growth in many other parts of the world.

This submission is an attempt at reconciling mythology with scientific nomenclature and modern context, and the only notable genus of crabs with a mythological counterpart.
55 Cancri c Tachypleus
Tachypleus is a suggested name for an exoplanet of 55 Cancri in Cancer, named after the genus Tachypleus of Horsehoe crabs. This name is suggested for the otherwise not-so-memorable exoplanet 55 Cancri c, outside of its status as a gas giant.

While definitely not resembling a crab pe se, and despite being unrelated to true crabs, the genus Tachypleus of Horsehoe crabs remains pivotal in its role in science and medicine. The Horseshoe crab is an Arthropod, but not a Crustacean, and in fact more closely related to spiders and scorpions. Nevertheless, it remains an important living fossil and has existed on Earth for a long time. Its blue blood (containing copper-based hemocyanin) is valuable in testing medication and vaccines before use, indirectly saving millions of lives.
55 Cancri d Birgus
The outermost exoplanet of 55 Cancri, 55 Cancri d, is also the most massive planet in the 55 Cancri system. An apt name for this colossal planet would be after the largest terrestrial hermit crab, the Birgus latro or Coconut crab, also known as the ‘Palm Thief’.

As the biggest land-living arthropod in the world, this hermit crab does not rely on an external shell when fully mature and is capable of scaling coconut palms to eat coconuts. Taxonomically however, hermit crabs are still not true crabs. Besides size alone, the name Birgus is also chosen due to 55 Cancri d’s distance away from the rest of the 55 Cancri system, indicative of its real-life counterpart’s status as a ‘crab out of water’. In fact, the coconut crab was initially named Cancer latro (crab thief) by Carl Linnaeus before it was renamed Birgus latro as the Cancer genus now refers to members of true crabs, and the name Cancer is given to the constellation itself in Astronomy.
55 Cancri e (Para)Lithodes
This name was chosen after the crab genus of Lithodes as well as Paralithodes, which can refer to different types of King crabs or Stone crabs. This can be indicative of the Super-Earth exoplanet, 55 Cancri e, in 55 Cancri. Note that King crabs are related to Hermit crabs but not true Crabs.

The name Lithodes is initially selected for this planet in particular as it likely to be the only terrestrial (‘rocky’) planet around 55 Cancri. But as recent evidence suggested, 55 Cancri e could end up being a carbon planet. With this possibility in mind, the name ‘Paralithodes’ could be used instead, with the prefix ‘para’ indicating it as being beyond expectations or even irregular for a terrestrial planet. This is indicative of its status as a special rocky planet with an over-abundance of carbon compounds, or even raw carbon in the form of graphite and diamond.

And finally, the King Crab, in particular the Red King Crab, Paralithodes camtschaticus, is commercially important as seafood.
55 Cancri f Uca
Keeping in line with the theme naming of a notable crab genus, most would recognize the Uca, or fiddler crabs. This name is suggested for 55 Cancri f in the 55 Cancri system.

Despite their relatively small size, most would recognize the males of this crab genus because of their sexually dimorphic claws, of which one is much larger than the other. This oversized claw is used in both courtship and self-defense, and even in communication between other members within the population.
With this in mind, 55 Cancri f is known to be highly eccentric in orbit, with an average estimated eccentricity of 0.3. The name Uca is thus a play of words on the planet’s lopsided orbit, the fiddler crab’s lopsided claws, and its identity as a planet in the Cancer constellation. The good news, however, is that 55 Cancri f lies within the habitable zone, and one of its moons might contain liquid water, provided that its high eccentricity does not result in two temperature extremes which nullifies the chance for the existence of life.
